The new logo for tourism in the Ukhahlamba District captures the mountains and water so iconic to the area. The district's agricultural activities are also represented, as is the friendliness of the people, symbolised by the warm, hospitable sun.
A new tourism brand for the Ukhahlamba District of the Eastern Cape, which was launched at the Ukhahlamba Tourism Indaba on 24 June, has been met with warm approval from the tourism industry.
Local municipality mayors from the area shared the district’s opinion that the “Eastern Cape Highlands – The Wild Side of the Drakensberg” brand will go a far way toward galvanising tourism growth in the area.
The new brand was deemed necessary to set the area apart from the Kwazulu Natal side of the Drakensberg mountain range. The name is most often used to refer to the Ukhahlamba Drakensberg Park, a premier tourism destination in Kwazulu Natal.
The launch of the Eastern Cape Highlands brand is the consummation of a year-long consultation process that sought to develop a marketing position for the Ukhahlamba District of the Eastern Cape that embraces the area’s unique attributes and sets it apart from other destinations.
